The primary purpose of the St. Jerome Religious Education Program is to supplement the religious training received at home and to provide our students with:
faith formation through religion classes
the opportunity to discover, develop and maximize religious, moral and social talents
the opportunity to express faith through community service and worship
We encourage our families through our words and examples to live their faith in everyday life. We guide our young people to a better understanding of our church as family and a better sense of belonging. Through prayer, education and encouragement, we will help our families through a process of religious education to know and love God.
The sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are celebrated in the second grade. Confirmation is celebrated in the tenth grade. All three sacraments have a prerequisite that includes two years of religious education immediately preceding preparation to receive the sacrament. Special arrangements and classes will be made for those children who have missed these sacraments. For more information, contact the Religious Education office at 254-666-6222. Anyone who serves minors or vulnerable adults in the parish is required to attend the “Protecting God’s Children” workshop as part of the Diocesan Ethics and Integrity in Ministry policy.
