Spiritual direction encourages you to explore a closer relationship with God. In spiritual
direction, you reflect deeply on the experiences of your daily life in order to recognize God’s
presence and grace in your life. In practice it is not so much about being “directed” as it is
about being helped to explore or discern the direction in which the Holy Spirit is leading you.
Spiritual direction is not pastoral counselling nor is it a type of therapy. Rather it is about
enhancing your spiritual journey; of being transformed by the Spirit of God into the image of Christ for the sake of others. Many great spiritual masters of the church have attested to the importance of spiritual direction by a trained director for progress in the spiritual life.
