Need baptism as an adult? Want to receive communion or confirmation? Let’s have a conversation!
OCIA, Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formally RCIA), is a process of Christian formation by which those who are seeking full communion with the Catholic Church are fully initiated through the sacraments of baptism, first communion, and/or confirmation. Our goal is to prepare seekers to be disciples of Christ who are fully integrated into our St. Jerome parish community by the time they receive the sacraments. We will do this through 3 core principles:
Invitation and welcome year round
Customized preparation
Accompaniment
The OCIA process of preparing for sacraments of initiation typically includes:
One-on-one conversations with an OCIA team member to begin the process
Developing an individualized faith formation plan
Pairing you with a sponsor who is a faithful and engaged Catholic
Dismissal from Mass every Sunday to discuss God's Word
Catechesis gatherings twice a month to learn about Catholic doctrine in an open discussion format
Retreat experiences
Engagement in parish activities and ministries alongside your sponsor
Multiple special liturgies to mark your progress through the process
